Good Design

Posted by brianbeck on February 2, 2009

If I could come up with a design that includes a blend of form and function to improve someone’s everyday life, I would create a PC application that would be an in-home grocery store. This design would be very easy for shopping. You would only need to login and select what items you want. Also, it will be less expensive to use than going to a store. and using up a lot of fuel. Having to start up your car and drive somewhere, for one or two items is not convenient. The In-home Store would be a time saver as well. Instead of fitting in a two hour grocery shopping stop, you could just need to open the app, and make the purchases. This technology would be the easiest way of grocery shopping ever.

With the In-home Store being an application, you physically would not see it. It’s convenience of being on a computer than actually having to put time aside and go grocery shopping makes life easier. Plus, with only a few bytes of space being used up, it won’t take up all your memory on your PC or ipod. Many types of options come with this app. When you log into the In-home Store, you just need to log into your free account. Once you are logged in, you type in your zip code. This will tell the program where you are, and will automatically start searching for grocery stores that are around your present area. Then you select a store you want your products to come from , and search their inventory. Lets say all you need is one item. Just search for the item and choose which one of the options it shows. This will give you the brand, quantity, and price. From there, you select what you want, and place your order; With no hassle!

Using the In-home would not only be user friendly, but pocket friendly, too. By loading the free download, you don’t have to spend any money. It can be a great way to save money with one download. So, not only user and pocket, but also environmentally friendly. Powering up a car, and driving to a grocery store, and driving all the way back home can cost some money. Using a ipod does not cost you any money to use. By loading the free download, you don’t have to spend any money. It can be a great way to save money and time with one download.

Besides downloading the In-home and using it whenever you need some quick groceries, you will be saving a whole lot of time. After placing the order, you need to type where the item (or items) should be shipped. Type in the address, and choose when you will need it. Your options would be Today (in 1-3 hours), Today (in 4-6 hours), tomorrow, or you can type in what day and time you will need it. Next, select what type of credit card you will be using, and put in all the necessary information about the card that the program requires. Finally, depending on when you need your item, the employee of In-home, called a “Personal Employee”, will deliver all your items. Also, by having this program, shopping for an un-technological, elderly family member will be easy.

With new products approaching everyday, technology is getting easier and easier to use. Using this machine is extremely effortless. Plus, it is popular and stylish to use ipods and laptop computers. Unlike this product, many products are requiring accounts with 30 day trials. But many people end up not canceling and just spending money every month on something they don’t want to pay for. The In-home does not require any fee for its services. Having simple products are very convenient to enjoy. With the computer screen freezing, internet servers “being down”, and cell phones with no service, it is about time for a product that isn’t a bother.

First Paragraph: Great Actions

Posted by brianbeck on January 30, 2009

The understanding I get from the quotation, “great actions speak to all humankind” can relate to anyone that has done something grand. Everybody has had an idea they wanted to make real. It could be any vision you had big or small. Sometimes when you live out your thoughts, it can effect others in both good and bad ways. Many people can relate to your thought or encourage you to do it. When you make your thought “real”, everyone can see it. It lets people see the “real” you. Although you may just think your idea is personal, it can inspire others to do the same.

Since the invention of the smartphone, technology soars to a new high. One can access the world of the net at click of a button. It is completely portable so you can take it with you on the go. Many even upgrade it so it is the latest in technology. By using the smartphone, you can contact anyone you know and have a conversation with them, nowhere near a computer. Just take it anywhere you are going and you will always have it at you desire. Upgrading it can even make sure it’s got the newest features to stay on top of all the other the phones. Without this useful invention, society today would not be so “advanced”.
.
The smartphone is a new way of accessing the world from wherever you are. Connecting to the Internet is a great feature a smartphone shares, keeping you informed of the all your favorite websites. Smartphones today, even act as a navigation system for your car; keeping you form ever being lost again. Plus, receiving information is faster than ever. One may even text a friend or family member using their smartphone. Even sending pictures to family is super fast with this technology. There is even no need to carry a separate music player with you, because a smartphone has a music and video player. Including live feeds from satelites, so you can watch your favorite TV shows right from the Palm of your hand. Besides having so much access around the world, its so portable you can take it anywhere.
.
With our busy everyday lives, we need a device as portable as a smartphone. Portability is an important factor, and since it is so small it’s not a problem. It can come with you where you go. Many can fit right into a pant pocket or small pouch. They are lightweight, making it easier to carry, even by hand. Smartphones can come with a bluetooth earpiece, meaning you can talk to anyone, without holding the device in hand; making driving and everyday tasks easier. Also, they have a lot of memory, so taking everything with you is easy. By easily working off the smartphone, or actually using your home desktop, you can add email, important files, songs, pictures and much more right to your smartphone. With a smart phone being such a portable technology invention, this mini-computer can be updated for the latest software.
.
Since the smartphone is so capable of exploring the net, it can be updated to fit in with the latest in technology. Anything you can do on your computer, you can do on a smartphone, because all smartphones are as advanced as a computer. One can upgrade the hardware and software of his smartphone, by downloading updates online. Although the hardware can hold a lot with its large memory, more can be added by buying gigabytes of memory. Even features can be added to your phone, making it even more fun with wallpapers, screen savers, games and music videos. You could even trade your smartphone for the latest, now most of them even have a full keyboard to type on. Accessories can also be added, including a bluetooth, protective case, or decorations. Smartphones can be upgraded easily, even by ordering the newest software from a web site. At last, since new technology is always being created, it is always trying to be more user friendly.
.
Without this useful invention, society today would not be so “advanced”. The future may hold even more smartphone type phones for us to have. Technology is advancing more and more, some articles even talk about phone chips to have implanted in a person. Although, technology is getting a little overpowering, it helps everybody nonetheless. Smartphones are such an easy way of communication. Email and texting have broadened our communication skills, so we don’t even have to use our voice. If we didn’t have the smartphone, we wouldn’t have all the conveniences we have today.
